Oregon California & Eastern Railroad Photos by George Landrock |
|
Around 1978 George Landrock was a junior engineer on the McCloud River Railroad in northern California,
not too far south of the Oregon border. Business on that railroad entered a severe slump in that year,
with the result that George was unable to work much. The Oregon California & Eastern was hiring at the time, and as a result George moved north, becoming and engineer on the line. George continued as an engineer on the OC&E for a few years before moving on to other pursuits. Below are some photos that he took during the years that he worked on the line. |

Looking back from the cab of one of the M-Ks...two more M-K's, one of the slugs, and one of the Baldwin RS-12s still in Seaboard Coast Line paint leading a train over Bly Mountain. The woodchip gondolas are bound for the Weyerhaeuser mill in Bly. |
