Flat cars have many uses around logging and shortline railroads. Perhaps the most common uses involved moving supplies, materials, and equipment around the system. Flat cars are also used
as boom cars and tenders for cranes. Logging railroads also use flatcars as idler cars placed between loaded logs cars and occupied equipment, such as locomotives or cabooses, to protect crew members
from shifting log loads. |
