Oregon California & Eastern Railroad Weyerhaeuser Woods Railroad Logger Commute Cars |

|
By the later 1920s an increasing percentage of loggers had families requiring more amenities and stable living situations than the single men more common in the earlier years of the industry. Most timber companies responded by transition from mobile to semi-permanently located logging communities, but this came at the expense of having to transport loggers ever increasing distanced between the camps and the woods. In the days before automobiles and crew vans most larger timber companies usually rostered some sort of passenger equipment used to move loggers on their commute. Weyerhaeuser purchased a pair of former interurban cars from the San Francisco & Napa Valley Railroad for this role, later supplemented by a former Southern Pacific "Harriman" style steel coach. |
