In 1988 Canada Coach Lines found themselves short of buses after the retirement of their GM SDM-4502 buses and the unexpected retirement of 5 MCI MC-5B coaches due to corrosion issues and collision damage. In response CCL leased from Paling Industries three MCI MC-8s built in 1977. One of these three buses was later sold to Erie Coach Lines of London, Ontario.
