A total of 28 CC&F CD-44As were used by the Canada Coach Lines from the early 1950s to the mid 1970s. #1601-1615 were built for the CCL in 1953, but were sold to the HSR in 1955. CCL #1651 was bought in April 1956, and for many years was the only CD-44A on the CCL's roster

The CCL would not acquire more CD-44As for nearly 15 years, when it purchased a large block of them from the HSR. All of the CD-44As that were former CCL buses came back, but were instead of being renumbered to their original CCL numbers, they kept their HSR numbers.

The last CCL CD-44A, #1651, was retired in March 1978.
