  • Weekends: The NRHS and Southeastern Railway Museum in Duluth, Georgia is open and offers caboose rides. It is home to the NRHS (National Railway Historical Society) Atlanta Chapter. www.srmduluth.org

  • 2nd Tuesdays: National Model Railroad Association: Monthly meeting of the Piedmont Division, at the Holy Innocents Episcopal Church, 805 Mt. Vernon Highway NW, 30327 in Atlanta, Georgia (off Riverside Drive, south of I-285 north crescent). www.piedmont-div.org "The Piedmont Division promotes model railroading to its members and the public by providing information, fellowship and organized activities that are educational, entertaining and engaging. The division operates within and supports the goals of the NMRA www.nmra.org and the Southeastern Region. www.ser-nmra.org

  • November is National Model railroading month. About 50 Piedmont Division NMRA members in north Georgia with layouts will be hosting open houses at various times every Saturday and Sunday in November. Please visit the "Piedmont Pilgrimage" at www.PiedmontPilgrimage.com

  • The Southern Museum (full name: The Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History) located in Kennesaw, Georgia has rolled out it's "General-II" for use in youth programs. Other kids programs are coming. The Education Center is now open. It also hosts Kennesaw Historical Society talks, and is a Smithsonian Affiliate museum hosting S.I.T.E.S. traveling exhibits.   • The North Atlanta Trade Center or NATS (formerly a Richway Store) in Norcross, Georgia is just east of I-85. It is the site of many railroad-themed shows throughout the year. Exit 101 (Indian Trail) about 3 miles north of the I-285/I-85 "Spaghetti Junction" intersection. Click www.northatlantatradecenter.com for directions and event dates and times.

  • The Marietta Museum of History is located off the square in Marietta, Georgia within a dozen yards of the A&W (CSX) railroad tracks. It is in the building where James Andrews stayed and plotted to steal the locomotive "General" during the Civil War.   • The North Georgia Live Steamers or NGLS, a 1&1/2" live steam club is building a track at the Conyers Horse Park. See their web site for more information: Click North Georgia Live Steamers
