featured in the Sunday edition of our local newspaper Marietta Daily Journal.

May, 2017: ** Congratulations ** To Charlie Mason on receiving
the NMRA "Master Model Railroader"!!!
2015: Congratulations to Larry Smith on his receiving the
NMRA the NMRA "Master Model Railroader"!!!
The Georgia Northeastern - Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad was sold to Patriot Rail on Nov 15, 2015.
There are no current plans to make substantial changes in the day-to-day operations of GNRR or BRSE,
to sell GNRR or BRSE, or to abandon rail lines in connection with the transaction.
The applicants state that they do not contemplate making significant changes in the current
workforces at GNRR or BRSE. Update 11/13/2015: The ceremony turning over control to the new owners was held this day.

January 27, 2015: ** Congratulations ** To Betty and Charlie Cole! Seen in today's MDJ paper:
NEW Cobb Superior Court Judge Ann Harris, who’s been on the bench for less than a month, will officiate
at her first wedding this week. She’ll be doing the honors for lawyer Charles Cole and Betty Winn
on Wednesday, [Jan 28, 2015] which also happens to be the fourth anniversary of the couple’s first date.
“It kind of ‘completes the circle’ in a wonderful way, because his son is Tom Cole,
currently a prosecutor in Paulding who was in the DA’s Office here in Cobb for a number of
years under Tom Charron and Pat Head, and he was one of my mentors in the DA’s Office
when I started in 1995,” the judge said.
Dick Hillman has a unique and as-yet unidientified
lantern/lamp embossed with "MP&C I.R." If anyone has knowledge of this type of

April 11, 2008: ** Congratulations ** To Charlie Mason on receiving
the NMRA "Golden Spike"
award. Also on his being elected president of our club !!!!!!
April 2008: Congratulations to Larry Smith on his retirement. We will
miss him, and Diane, as they move to Kentucky in April. Their efforts
for our club over the years has been tremendous !
January 2008: Congratulations to Larry Smith on his receiving the
NMRA Volunteer Achievement Award, his first !
10/19/05: Member Phil Stead suggests that every September 27 be set
aside as a holiday called "International Railway Day." (Sept. 27,
for those not Ferroequinologists, was the day in 1825 of the opening
of the Stockton & Darlington Railway.)
