General Notes:
1. Can be called a Phase III body style, with larger vents over the batteries. There are some minor component differences as well.
2. CP 1705 was among the first of a 35-unit order by Canadian Pacific. CP 1700-1706 were to be constructed in 2005 for testing. From CP Railway press release 3-14-2005. Contract terminated in late 2006. From Railpower prese release. At that time, CP 1705 was complete but was never delivered. Unit briefly appeared in CP paint, but was quickly repainted in RP green and renumbered RPRX 1705.
|
Notes:
A. CP 1704 and 1705 built with 500kW genset. Unit built but never delivered to CP. Placed into storage after termination of the CP contract. From observations by Doug Mackenzie and others.
B. CP 1705 became RPRX 1705, and was reported in 2007 to be on Lease/Demo to NovaChem in Joffre, AB. Later re-sold to Viriginia International Terninals as their NITX 1705 for service in Norfolk, VA.
C. According to Railpower, the 1705 will be leased then sold to the Virginia International Terminal as part of their three-unit order for one GG20B and two RP20BD's, which was announced on July 31, 2008. Unit was delivered to Newport, VA on the weekend of Oct. 18-19, 2008.

Notes:
A. CP 1705 reported to be built from StL&A 68. From Extra 2200 South #129, page 11. CP 1705 donor unit information from the unofficial EMD homepage (http://www.trainweb.org/emdloco/). Conflicting information from the Canadian Trackside Guide, 2004 ed., pg. 1-151 and other sources has St. Lawrence & Atlantic 68 as being ex-GT/CV 4445. But the EMDLoco site has that unit as being StLA 1766, which was wrecked and scrapped in 1995.

General Notes:
1. Sent to CAD for upgrades in August 2007, then moved to TMS in Altoona, PA in August 2008. According to Railpower, this unit will be rebuilt by TMS into an RP20BD genset.
2. Originally, the 2403 was indicated to be the core for NITX 1706, while RPRX 2405 would become NITX 1707. In late April 2009, an unpainted NITX unit was spotted coupled to the painted NITX 1706. The unpainted unit had the RPRX 2403's cab markings still on the side of the cab. It is presumed from this evidence that the cores were reversed, and the 2403 became the 1707, while the 2405 became the 1706.
3. Units held at TMS after Railpower bankruptcy because of lien placed against them by TMS. In resolution, 1706 and 1707 were sold to NS. Their current status is not known, and as of Oct. 2009 they were both still at TMS, with 1707 still not painted.
4. Builder’s decal info provided by the telephoto lens of Scooter Hovanec.

B. One of five Green Goat demonstrators built in 2004 and 2005 and demonstrated all over the country. RPRX 2403 was originally built on Jan. 24, 2005.
C. RPRX 2405 reported in 5-year lease (?) to BNSF for use in the Los Angeles area. From BNSF press release 5-23-2005.
