General Notes:
1. 3rd generation GG20B upgraded to 4th generation specifications.
|
Notes:
A. RPRX 2000 build location and date (Super Steel in June, 2006) from photo evidence and conversations with users Railfanbear and Dean Splittgerber.
B. Built for Idaho National Engineering Laboratory (INEL) campus in Southern Idaho. From Bechtel employee. Exact destination unknown. INEL is spread out all over the place, and requires security clearance to get in. Update: RPRX 2000 is at INEL's facility near Scoville, ID.
C. BP 1703 originally built for Canadian Pacific as CP 1703, in service in Calgary, AB. Contract terminated and unit to be returned to Railpower for resale. From Railpower press release dated Dec. 5, 2006. CP 1703 was sold to BP Amoco and moved to their Cherry Point (Blaine, WA) refinery. From online discussions and direct contact with BP. Serial number provided by BP.
D. BP 1703 serial number from a plate check by the webmaster at Cherry Point in July 2008.
E. Lubrizoil is an industrial plant in Deer Park, TX (a suburb of Houston) was served by Railserve SW1200 RSS 2269. I’m not sure if that locomotive remains at the plant as well.
F. Modoc Railroad Academy is a railroad training facility north of Sacramento, CA. Their website is http://www.modocrailroadacademy.com/.
G. Per my conversation with an MRA employee, the unit number is 2608, not 2006. The unit is shown in these photos with the incorrect number boards mounted in the front. I am told that the correct number boards were mounted on the back. I was also told that the unit is an ex-SP GP35, which was sold to Helm when retired. HLLX 2608 is an ex-SP GP38-2 according to The Diesel Shop's Helm Roster, but it was sold to a railroad in Mexico, so that isn't likely to be our candidate.
H. The 2608 shpped with RPRX reporting marks because Modoc Rail Academy doesn't have its own. Modoc also has an option for a second unit in 2007, but didn't exercise it.

General Notes:
1. Originally RPRX 2404 (2000) and 2401 (2001), two of five Green Goat demonstrators built in 2004 and 2005 and demonstrated all over the country. As GG20B hybrids, these units were built to Gen. I standards. They were retired in the summer of 2008 and sent to TMS in Altoona, PA for conversion to RP20BD gensets.
2. Build dates from the Modesto & Empire Traction's website, and reflects the remanufacture date for the unit when converted from hybrid to genset. Serial number is not yet verified.
|
Notes:
A. When the 2404 emerged from TMS, it had been converted to an RP20BD genset as expected, and set up for sale to Modesto & Empire Traction. Their order for two RP20BD's was first announced in a press release on Oct. 16, 2008.
B. When the 2401 emerged from TMS, it had been converted to an RP20BD genset as expected, and set up for sale to Modesto & Empire Traction. Their order for two RP20BD's was first announced in a press release on Oct. 16, 2008.
