General Notes:
1. According to the website of B&P parent Genesee & Wyoming, BPRR is participating in a CMAQ-funded program to repower two SW1500 switchers as twin engine genset locomotives. (http://www.gwrr.com/about_us/community_and_environment/gwi_green/genset_locomotives.be). According to the sources and additional information from the ARRA application, the work will be done in-house using kits provided by Brookville Equipment. Model number derived from that information. Additional information provided by the Pennsylvania Recovery site (http://www.recovery.pa.gov/portal/server.pt/document/406086/dep_-_arra_bprr_dera-appa_grant_ap04-20-09_pdf).
2. Expected delivery of these units is early 2010.

Notes:
A. Core unit model of EMD SW1500 taken from a PDF on the FRA Research web directory (http://www.fra.dot.gov/downloads/research/). I thought that references were on the GWRR page referenced above as well, but I can no longer find them. In the ARRA application referenced above, the cores are mentioned as having 1,200 hp. EMD 12-567 motor. The SW1500 has a 645 motor rated at 1,500 hp.
B. Cores spotted at Brookville in Oct. 2009 mentioned in online discussion as genset cores. Units are ex-Railway Switching Serivces EMD switchers, numbers Galveston Railroad (GVSR) 771 (NW2) and Georgia Central (GC) 952 (SW1200).

A. Core info for RSS 771 from the Unofficial EMD homepage (http://www.trainweb.org/emdloco/6100.htm). According to the Rock Island Technical Society, the 771 was sold to Railway Switching Service in 1981 as their RSS 771. (http://www.rits.org/www/equipment/ridispos.html)
B. RSS 952 was the plant switcher for Surrency Grain in Surrency, GA. Connection with its previous history was made via RRPictureArchives (http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/locoPicture.aspx?id=97284&Page=2) with history from the Unofficial EMD Homepage (http://www.trainweb.org/emdloco/19500.htm).

General Notes:
1. This is the prototype for Brookville Equipment's new CoGeneration line of multi-powered road switchers. Those units are capable of running not only by multi-genset engines, but by electricity supplied by catenary, third rail, or batteries. As built, the prototype is a genset-only locomotive. From Brookville press releases and Brookville's CoGen page (http://www.brookvilleequipment.com/industrialswitchercogen.htm).
|
Notes:
A. Serial number and build date provided by Brookville Equipment. Many thanks for their support in this project. Build plate is stamped with model CG1 according to a photo of the plate by Chris Palmieri.
B. BMEX 259 was released from Brookville for demonstration in early March, 2008, according to a press release from Brookville at that time. 2008 Demonstrations include: Buffalo & Pittsburg, DuBois, PA (March 2008); Norfolk Southern, Roanoke, VA (March-July 2008); CSX Transportation, Hagerstown, MD (July-Sept. 2008); BNSF Railway, Fort Worth, TX (early 2009); Pacific Harbor Line, Long Beach, CA (Spring 2009); Union Pacific, Roanoke, TX (July-August 2009); Modesto & Empire Traction, Modesto, CA (Aug.-Sept. 2009); Central California Traction, Port Stockton, CA (Sept. 2009); Sierra Railroad, Oakdale, CA (Oct. 2009).
