Union Pacific has placed an order for 60 3-engine genset switchers with a design a little different from the prototype 2GS21B center cab unit. The units are to be used in the Long Beach, CA area. NRE's new 3GS21B 3-engine genset switcher is built on an all-new frame, with newly fabricated fuel tank and oil reservoir, and other parts. About the only thing recycled on these units is the trucks. From observation and conversations with people involved in the project. |

According to various sources, UPY 2760 was delivered from NRE with remote control capability. Some other UPY units may have been converted post-factory, but the 2760 was the only factory-delivered RCL. |
