Unamed member working on locomotive D 140
The Ferrymead Railway and the Canterbury Railway Society
are renowned for restoration work. We always have at least two current projects
going at any given time. You can keep us with progress on these projects here.
Following completion of the Ferrymead Railway Heritage Train the restoration crew
took a much-deserved break. Now they have begin work on locomotive F13.
Currently the frame has been stripped and repainted, and cracks in the wheel
sets are being fixed at A & G Price at Thames.
When F13 is completed it will be the oldest operating locomotive in New
Zealand.
Work is also progressing on restoration of carvan (carriage/guard's van)
B231. This carriage is expected to be back in service before the end of the
year.
Come back to this page for progress reports on their work.
