SRS 136 sits on a siding just off Norfolk Southern mainline at Tolondo, IL. This side-on view gives a good feel for the length of a Sperry car. Built by J. G. Brill, its original Winton 106A 220hp engine was later replaced by a Caterpillar prime mover. The car is ex New York Central M11 and was acquired by Sperry in April 1948. 136 is 62' 5" in length, 13' high and 10' 4" wide weighing 158,000 lbs. |
