Most of the current freight cars on the DV&W are kits. Some Branchline and some Walthers. There are a few cars leftover from the original "Life Like Trainsets" that I started this project with. The cars that are weathered are presently weathered with chalks and Dullcote. Most of the kits are unweathered and it helps to balance the overall look of the consist.
I anticipate the addition of more freight cars as time goes on. Since I am modeling an agricultural industry, I will definitely need additional reefers. Most likely PFE's and FGE's for use with the UP, SP, ATSF & WP.
The cabooses all have lights installed and are a combination of Life Like and Athearn. I have found that even "train set" cars can look pretty decent when weathered.
The "trainset" cars have been converted to body mounted couplers. Most of the couplers are Kadee #5's, but will be converted to #58's in the future for a more prototypical look.
