In 1944, units were "first 1/4," "second 1/4, " and so on.
In 1946, FTAs received yellow nose paint.
In 1947, the smaller numberboards were replaced with larger plates, relocated signal lights.
In 1948, #FTBs 551 received boilers and steam generators.
January 1950: 4 digit numbers applied, side number boards painted over.
Beginning May 1951, Grande Gold 4-stripe livery applied. FTA #548 received F7 car body.
After 1953, steam generators removed except on FTBs #5482-5483
