At the moment the D78 Stock is equipped with 'Passenger Open' buttons. As this picture shows, a Passenger Close facility is also being added. At the moment however, the Passenger open facility is not used, and I have no knowledge that there are plans to reintroduce this. I assume this modification is being included in case this situation ever changes in the fututre. The small 'drilled' apeture below is the loudspeaker for the 'Door Close' chimes that will be installed.
