The Delaware & Northern Railroad, and its
predecessor the Delaware & Eastern Railroad, existed for just
shy of forty years. Starting with big aspirations of being an
interstate freight hauler, the D&N became a quiet country
railroad. Tales are still told of this colorful railroad. The
D&N was depended upon by the people of the East Branch Valley.
The railroad, despite being nicknamed the "Damn Nuisance," was a
beloved part of the valley. Presented here are the two most well
known written histories of this railroad - long out of print.
