Missouri Pacific #?

a Steel Merchandise With the Bay (SMWB) caboose.

Being used as a concession stand at the Big Bear RV Park in Waterford, California is this xMP Steel Merchandise caboose.   This particular variety of Merchandise caboose has the bay window.   The reinforcing strip can be seen where the side door is.   Can you see the MOPAC on the cast draft gear?   There is another of these cabooses in St Louis, Missouri at the Museum of Transport which DOES NOT have the bay and is currently being restored by their staff volunteers.

Grant Kern returned and got some more shots of this caboose.

In July of 2002 I was able to make my way to Waterford and talk to the caboose owner.   I was told that the caboose came off a local industrial type line.   It had burned and he got it less the trucks.

Since then, Big Bear Park has closed with the cabooses being moved.   Our caboose is suppose to be nearby, still owned by the same folks who will try to make it look like a caboose again.
