Missouri Pacific HO Scale Brass Caboose Models
A continuing effort.   Last effort on 11-11-2007

In Cabooses of the Missouri Pacific Lines, Jerry Michels included a chapter (page 266) on the HO scale models then available in brass.   This included photos and reviews of the different models as to their accuracy to the prototype.   Since that publication, more models have come on the market.   I'm starting with the information Jerry provided and continuing the effort.   I'll not comment on the quality of the models since for the most part they are correct or the information is elsewhere on the internet.   All of us that have an interest in the Missouri Pacific, Texas & Pacific, Chicago & Eastern Illinois, Kansas Oklahoma & Gulf and all the rest own Jerry our gratitude for the research he has done on the Missouri Pacific caboose fleet.

Additional modeling information can be found in the Modeling Section of DBRy off the Main Page.

NOTE: A caboose number followed by an R (999-R) means that that caboose has been fitted with a radio.   Doesn't sound that important till you realize that until radios gained full acceptance, yard crews needed an easy way to make sure they were coupling up the right caboose for the train.   Adding the R to the caboose number was how the Missouri Pacific handled this problem.   Once radios became standard equipment, the R was dropped.

The Abreviations as used here are from Cabooses of the Missouri Pacific Lines page 373.

Overland produced a run of Texas & Pacific 30' Short 'Muley' Wood Cabooses. The as built, 1950s era, mid-1950s era and late-1950s era were produced. Factory painted freight car red, lettered and with an interior.
Unfortunatley they are all numbered for T&P 'Long Muley' series of cabooses and will need their numbers changed before being correct.

While I either own or have owned most of the models on this list, the photos used here were aquired from posts to the internet such as on eBay unless noted.   I'd be more than happy to credit the photographer or to remove an image if the photographer objects to it's use here, just let me know.   On the other hand, if you have an image of a MP caboose model that you are particularly proud of, I'd be honored to highlight it here.   Thanks.
