Dave's Depot
UPDATED!
There have been some new things happen since I updated this site! The biggest one is that I now work for the BNSF Railroad as a signal maintainer in Kansas City. This gives me even more opportunities to photograph the Kansas City area trains.
Look for more photos and updates very soon!
Welcome to Dave's Depot. Here you will find all types of information on TRAINS! I am both an avid train watcher...yes, a foamer...and a HO scale modeler. I model the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad from the 1950's though the time of their merger with the Burlington Northern Railroad.
I live in the Kansas City area, so I am able to photograph a fantastic number of different railroads. These include the Santa Fe and Burlington Northern Railroads (now BNSF), the Kansas City Southern, the Gateway Western (now a part of KCS), the Union Pacific, the Southern Pacific (now a part of UP), the I&M Rail Link, the Norfolk Southern, and the Missouri & Northern Arkansas. There is also a new railroad in Missouri. It is called the Missouri Central. They are running the former Rock Island line from St. Louis to Pleasant Hill, MO and then into KC on UP trackage. They have just started the long process of rebuilding the line, and they have started from the St. Louis side so it may be a while before we see those trains on this side of the state, but I will try to keep you posted on their progress.
I live along the Gateway Western line from Kansas City to St. Louis. As a mater of fact, the mainline of the GWWR is only about 75 feet from my back door. The Sante Fe has trackage rights along the Gateway, so there are a lot of Santa Fe trains that run through my back yard.
On the following pages, I will attempt to post pictures of some of the trains that pass through the Kansas City area and also pictures and information about the model railroading hobby. I also belong to a HO scale modular railroad club. It is called the Easter Jackson County Mainliners. It is a large modular club that shows at the local GATS shows, local events, and the NMRA Convention when it is in the area.
Enjoy the photos. I welcome all feedback, questions, and comments. If there are pictures of specific Kansas City area trains or railfan sites that you would like to see, please let me know through my e-mail address posted below. Also, if any of you have photos that you would like to have posted, I will post them for you with your credits.
