This signal was from the
collection of the late Bill Stokoe of Tehachapi.
Bill would gladly show off
collection of railroad signals to anyone
who dropped by. Bill worked
for the SP for more than 40 years as
a signal supervisor. From
the last that I heard, his collection will
once again be displayed
at a new museum in Tehachapi. This is the
best example of a Griswold
signal that I've seen.
This one is located at a
railroad equipment display in downtown Calistoga.
This was at one time the
terminus of the SP Napa Branch until it was truncated
back to ST. Helena some
years ago. For some reason, the lights have been
removed from the signal.
It does sport a set of reflectorized crossbucks and
an original type yellow
stop sign.
This Griswold grade crossing
signal is at the Medford Railroad Park in Medford Oregon. It is currently
non-operational on static display next to 1 1/2" scale Live Steam trackage.
The Southern Oregon Chapter of the
National Railway Historical Society is planning on restoring this signal
to operating condition. Also featured are two Style-B semaphores and a
few motor car indicators. They will soon be adding a wigwag as well.
The Medford Railroad Park is located near (northwest of) the north Medford I-5 interchange about a third of a mile north on Tablerock Road. Turn right on Berrydale. It's open to the public on the second and forth Sundays of the month from April through October. Features include live steam train rides on nearly a mile of track, a large HO scale operating model railroad, static exhibits of full sized railroad rolling stock and the Morse Telegraphers. Admission is free to all exhibits and the train rides but donations are appreciated. Photo by Larry Tuttle |
Another Griswold signal can
be found at the entry of the Western Minnesota
Steam Threshers Reunion
held at Rollag Minnesota in September every year.

The California State RR Museum
also has a Griswold
signal on display along
with a wigwag signal and
a US&S Style B semaphore.
I will add a photo when I get one.
