The two wigwags at
Point Richmond, CA (BNSF) may be the last set of double upper-quadrant
wigwags in existence. These are both center of street installations, with
nicely maintained flower boxes. I recently heard that BNSF intends to replace
these with crossing gates. The city of Richmond is apparently not convinced
that they need to spend $200,000.00 on gates. This is not a high speed
train crossing, and crossing gates would impact the appearance of historic
Point Richmond. For more photos of these wigwags, click
