This wigwag can be found on display at the San Juan Capistrano
Amtrak/Metrolink Station. It is on the east side facing the parking
lot. We don't have a lot of information concerning this signals past,
but it looks to ba a chopped up Santa Fe wigwag.
The wigwags at the depot restaurant were removed from the Verdugo St. crossing (in front of the depot) when the city closed the street to through traffic and the building was remodeled into a restaurant. The other one is inside the bar and both are operational. Stop in for a burger and ask the bar tender to light 'em up. |
San Juan Capistrano (6/01) Steve Crise
This is the indoor wigwag found inside the restaurant.
Steve Crise adds more:
"And if you feel like having a cold beer, step into the
bar area
that has a working wigwag mounted to the wall. You can
enjoy in air
conditioned comfort a cool one with your food, watch
the wig wag wigwag, and,
as an extra bonus, view BNSF, Amtrak and Coaster trains
roll into the station
through a large glass picture window. Show up on
the weekends in the evening
and you can do all this to live music! Does it get any
better?"
