Steve Smith found these two Magnetic Flagmen in the paking
lot
driveway at the Chatanooga Choo Choo museum/hotel in
Chattanooga, TN. in January 2009. He's not sure, but
suspects that
they do not operate. Looks like they took some liberties
with their
banner color scheme as well. (but who knows - isn't there
a prototype for everything?)
...Recently (actually this past fall) I was traveling with Work and recorded these views of two "Basket" Type Magnetic Flagman Wig-Wags mounted and on display on either side of the railroad line entering the Hotel Complex Parking lot of the Famous Chattanooga Choo Choo in Chattanooga TN. I'm not sure if the Wig-Wags are operable but I'm guessing not, it's been sometime since the rails in to the Hotel complex has seen service and the Wig-Wag side doors look to have been removed recently for what ever reason (I hope not vandalism). One of the Wig-Wag Banners is painted Yellow with a Black band across the face right over the center light and not sure how prototypical this is, and the other Wig-Wag has the Lighted Banner option where the bottom half of the banner is hollow to enable the lighting from the center light to also light small lenses mounted in the letters of the word STOP across the bottom portion of the Banner. |
Some detail shots of the two Flagmen...
