Bay Area wigwags
from the Past
Niles
This wigwag
greeted all who entered the historic town of Niles. This was a short industry
spur that was removed in 1990. Notice banner turned a bit to the left to
compensate for the curve in the road. |
|
Sadly...it
too vanished in 1990.

Santa
Cruz (Boardwalk)

| The
wigwag that welcomed visitors to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk finally
disappeared in 1998, replaced by a single cantilever flasher. Santa Cruz
will never be the same! To see where there are existing wigwags in Santa
Cruz, click here. |
Gilroy
This wigwag used to protect a pedestrian path
across the former SP coast mainline just north of downtown.
At some point this street had been barricaded, but they
left
the wigwag behind to protect the pathway. It was replaced
by a couple of highway flashers during the mid '90's.
