The CP 8500s group consisted of 4 different locomotive models : the GMD-built GP9 (#8500-8546), with a 1,750 Hp. 16-567 engine, the CLC H16-44 units (#8547-8556), with the unique 'opposed piston' 2 stroke engine, generating 1,600 Hp; the MLW RS-10 units (#8557-8568) with a 1,600 Hp. V12 model 244 4-cycle engine block, and the MLW RS10s (#8569-8599).
