CP SW8, SW900 : 6700-6720

The CP 6700 series consisted of GMD switchers, model SW8 (#6700-6709) and SW900 (#6710-6720). The SW8s were rated at 800 Hp. and had a 2-cycle 567 V-8 engine. The SW 900s are rated at 900 Hp, with the same 567 engine block as the SW8 units. A number of 6700s were converted to slug units : see details below. The remaining units were retired or sold, except CP #6711 which is still active at Calgary's Ogden Shops as a trackmobile.
