Wreck Rebuilds

SD40 units #5500-5531 (DRF-30a) were delivered between July and December 1966. All were painted in the Maroon & Grey "Script" paint scheme. Units #5532-5564 (DRF-30b) were delivered between December 1966 and April 1967, also painted in the Maroon & Grey "Script" paint scheme. SD40-2 units #5565-5588 were delivered in February and March 1972 (DRF 30g), while #5589-5599 (DRF 30h) followed between May and July, 1972. All of the SD40-2 units in this group were delivered in the CP Rail Large Multimark paint scheme, with 5" red & white nose and cab stripes, and 5" black & white end stripes.

SD40 #5560 was wrecked in 1980, and rebuilt by GMD in 3/1981 as SD40-2 #5560:2, and placed in DRF class 30u. Units #5583 and #5584 were wrecked in 1980, and rebuilt by GMD; CP #5583:2 was rebuilt in 1/1985 and placed in DRF class 30w, while CP #5584:2 was rebuilt in 9/1983 and placed in DRF class 30v.
