About Us

The Friends of 6218 are volunteers dedicated to preserving the CN 6218 steam locomotive located in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada.  We are a not for profit organization incorporated as the Fort Erie Historical Railway Association.  We do not have any paid staff.  We are a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency.  We can issue Canadian tax receipts for donations of $25 or more.  As a Canadian corporation we have not been recognized by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.

The Town of Fort Erie Council is supportive of the restoration strategy and has already made budget allocations of $100,000 toward the project. Estimated total costs range up to $400,000 for the project.  Making up that difference is where we (and you!) come into the picture.

Our Mission Statement

“To advocate for and raise funds to preserve, repair, and protect steam engine CN 6218 presented to the Town of Fort Erie in 1973.  To develop and support programs which advance public awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the historical significance of CN 6218 in Fort Erie’s rail history.”
