3/9/2013 -- Clover Valley Lumber 2-6-6-2T 4, ex. Tahoe Timber Company 4 1957, exx. Feather River Lumber Company 4, nee Clover Valley Lumber Company 4. built by Baldwin in 1924, was the star of the post-Winterail special on the Niles Canyon Railway.





3/9/2013 -- I rode behind Glenwood, South Park and Pacific 2-8-0 13, built by Westside Locomotive Works at Hillcrest Farms' Hillcrest & Wahtoke Railroad in Reedley, California.





7/21/2013 -- During a visit to Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association, I rode behind Pennsylvania Railroad 0-6-0 643, ex. Pennsylvania Railroad Company 9684, nee Waynesburg & Washington Railroad Company 4, built by the railroad in 1901.





9/14/2013 -- At the 2013 National Railway Historical Society convention in Anchorage, Alaska, Tanana Valley Railroad 0-4-0 1, ex. Alaska Engineer Commission 1 1917, exx. Tanana Valley Railroad Company 1 1906, exxx. Tanana Mines Railroad Company 1 1905, nee North American Transfer & Trading Company, number unknown, built by H.K. Porter in 1899, was the subject of several rides at Pioneer Park in Fairbanks.

2014



4/13/2014 -- I rode Santa Fe 4-8-4 3751, built by Baldwin in 1927, from San Bernardino to Los Angeles.





6/11/2014 -- The 2014 National Railway Historical Society convention was in Springdale, Arkansas and featured a visit to Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, providing me an opportunity to ride behind Silver Dollar City 2-4-0T 13, built by Orenstein and Koppel in 1938.





8/14/2014 -- A visit to Felton, California featured a ride behind Roaring Camp and Big Trees Narrow Gauge Railroad2-truck Shay 1 "Dixiana", ex. Coal Processing Corporation 2593 Dixiana, Virginia, exx. W.M. Ritter Lumber Company 2593, exxx. Smoky Mountain Railroad 2 1919, exxxx. Southern Iron and Equipment 3 1919, exxxxx. Tennega Lumber Company 3 1917, nee Alaculsy Lumber Company 3, built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1912.





8/16/2014 -- California Western 2-8-2 45, ex. Medford Corporation 3 1932, nee Owen-Oregon Lumber Company 3, built by Baldwin in 1924, at Fort Bragg.

2015



6/22/2015 -- Mount Washington Cog Railroad 2 "Ammonoosuc", nee Mount Washington Cog Railroad 4 "Atlas", built by Manchester Locomotive Works in 1875, pushed our train up the summit and pulled it back down.





6/27/2015 -- I rode the Essex Steam Train behind Valley Railroad 2-8-2 3025, ex. Knox and Kane 58, ex. New York, Susquehanna and Western 142, nee Valley Railroad 1647, built by Tangshan Locomotive Works in 1989.





7/25/2015 -- Norfolk Southern's Steam Program featured Nickel Plate Road 2-8-4 765, built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1944, from Youngstown to Ashtabula, Ohio.





7/26/2015 -- The 24 inch gauge Stet & Querry Central 4-6-4 1 built by Wagner and Sons in 1938, at the Hesston Steam Museum in Hesston, Indiana.

2016



3/20/2016 -- McCloud River Railroad 2-6-2 25, built by American Locomotive Company in 1925, led the post-Winterail excursion on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad.





4/8/2016 -- Norfolk and Western 4-8-4 611, built by the railroad in 1941 at Spencer, North Carolina.





4/9/2016 -- Riding behind Norfolk and Western 4-8-4 611 built by the railroad in 1941, on The Virginian from Spencer to Lynchburg.





4/10/2016 - The Blue Ridge Special from Spencer to Asheville behind Norfolk and Western 4-8-4 611, built by the railroad in 1941.





7/4/2016 -- Durango & Silverton 2-8-2 481, nee Denver and Rio Grande Western 481, built by Baldwin in 1925, was the locomotive on the Durango & Silverton Railroad train.





7/11/2016 -- Tiny Town Railroad 2-6-6 15" gauge 12 "Mary Ross", built by Uhrich Locomotive Works in 2016, pulled our train at Tiny Town Railroad in Morrison, Colorado.





7/14/2016 -- I rode behind Black Hills Central Railroad 2-6-6-2T 110, ex. Nevada State Railroad Museum 110 1993, exx. Wasatch Railroad Museum 10 1971, exxx. Promontory Chapter National Railway Historical Society 110 1968, exxxx. Rayonier Lumber Company 10 1954, nee Weyerhauser Timber Company 110, built by Baldwin in 1928.





7/17/2016 -- Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad 2-8-2 463 "Mudhen", nee Denver and Rio Grande Western 463, built by Baldwin in 1925, led the train from Antonito to Osier, while Cumbres and Toltec Scenic 2-8-2 484, nee Denver and Rio Grande Western 484, built by Baldwin in 1925, took us from Osier to Chama.





7/18/2016 -- Cripple Creek & Victor Narrow Gauge Railway 0-4-0 3, ex. Singing Rails, Inc. 1964, nee Compania de Minerales y Metales, built by H.K. Porter in 1927.





7/21/2016 -- The 2016 National Railway Historical Society convention was held in Denver, Colorado and one of the excursions was at Georgetown Loop Railroad with West Side Lumber Shay 9, ex. Midwest Central Railroad 9 1966, nee West Side Lumber Company 9, built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1923.





7/21/2016 -- The convention event at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden featured Denver and Rio Grande Western 2-8-0 346, ex. Robert Richardson 346 1958, exx. Narrow Gauge Motel 346 1950, exxx. Dolores, Colorado 1948, exxxx. Booker Junkyard in Durango 346 1948, exxxxx. Montezuma Lumber Company 346 1947, exxxxxx. Denver and Rio Grande Western 346 1924, exxxxxxx. 11/12/2016 -- Folsom Valley Railway's 12 inch gauge 4-4-0 1 "Cricket", built by Erich Thompsen in 1950.

6/2/2017 -- The two foot gauge Lake Region Pioneer Threshing Association 0-4-0T 2 "F. Albert Bau", built by Decauville in Neukirchen, Germany in 1914.





6/3/2017 -- Milwaukee Road 261 4-8-4 261, built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1944, took me on a round trip from Davenport to Lisbon, North Dakota then to Breckenridge, Minnesota and from there to Kindred.





6/17/2017 -- Southern Railway 2-8-0 154, nee East Tennessee, Virginia & Georgia Railway Company 466, built by American Locomotive Company in 1890, during a photo freight charter in Knoxville, Tennessee.







6/20/2017 -- The 2007 National Railway Historical Society convention's Summerville steam trip featured Southern Railway 2-8-2 4501, built by Baldwin in 1911, and Southern Railway 2-8-0 630, built by American Locomotive Company in 1904.





10/1/2017 -- Milwaukee Road 4-8-4 261, built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1944, led an excursion from Minneapolis Junction to Glencoe, Minnesota.

2018



5/18/2018 -- I rode Southern Railway 2-8-0 401, nee Alabama Asphaltic Limestone 401, built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in December 1907, on a charter train at Monticello Railway Museum.





7/29/2018 -- East Tennessee and Western North Carolina Railroad 4-6-0 12, ex. Shenandoah Central 12 1952, nee East Tennessee & Western North Carolina Railroad Company 12, built by Baldwin in 1917, at Tweetsie Railroad Park in Blowing Rock, North Carolina.





8/11/2018 -- The 2018 National Railway Historical Society convention included an excursion with Everett Railroad 2-6-0 11, ex. Bath and Hammondsport 11, exx. Narragansett Pier Railroad 11, nee built for Cuban sugar cane work, but never sold, built by American Locomotive Company in 1920 at Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania.

2019



5/5/2019 -- Lagoon Park 4-4-0 2, built by Crown Metal Products in 1967, at the Lagoon Amusement Park in Farmington, Utah.





10/12/2019 -- I rode behind Union Pacific 4-8-8-4 4014, built by American Locomotive Company in 1941, and was a car host on the excursion from West Colton to Yermo.

2020



7/9/2020 -- Cumbres and Toltec 2-8-2 488, nee Denver and Rio Grande 488, built by Baldwin in 1925, was ridden on my honeymoon with my wife Elizabeth. She has accompanied me and riddden almost all of the steam engines pictured from this date forward.





7/10/2020 -- New to both of us was Georgetown Loop 2-8-0 40, ex. Colorado Central Narrow Gauge Railway 40 1972, exx. International Railways of Central America 40 1928, exxx. International Railways of Central America 50 1913, nee Guatemala Railway Company 50, built by Baldwin in 1920.





7/13/2020 -- Black Hills Central 2-6-6-2 110, ex. Nevada State Railroad Museum 110 1993, exx. Wasatch Railroad Museum 10 1971, exxx. Promontory Chapter National Railway Historical Society 110 1968, exxxx. Rayonier Lumber Company 10 1954, nee Weyerhauser Timber Company 110, built by Baldwin in 1928, on their regular excursion.





7/17/2020 -- Nevada Northern 4-6-0 40, built by Baldwin in 1910, during a regular visit.





9/12/2020 -- Deep River Lumber 2-4-4-2 7 "Skookum", ex. Columbia River Belt Line 7, built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1909 for Little River Railroad, but never delivered, on the Niles Canyon Railway.





10/3/2020 -- A photographer's special on the Black Hills Central Railroad featured Black Hills Central 2-6-6-2T 108, ex.
