4/9/2007 - Strasburg Rail Road 2-10-0 90, nee Great Western Sugar Company 90, built by Baldwin in 1924, charging along Cherry Hill Road in Amish country in Strasburg, Pennsylvania.





5/19/2007 -- I attended the Cass Scenic 40th Anniversary railfan weekend and rode behind Cass Scenic Railroad Shay 2, ex. Cass Scenic Railroad 2 in 1970, exx. Railway Appliance Research Limited 114 at North Vancouver, British Columbia in 1964, exxx. Western Forest Industries 5 at Honeymoon Bay, British Columbia in 1946, exxxx. Lake Logging Company 5 at Cowichan Lake, British Columbia in 1943, exxxxx. Mayo Lumber Company 4 at Paldi, British Columbia, nee built for stock built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1928, Cass Scenic Railroad Shay 4, ex. Cass, Greenbrier, Cheat & Bald Knob Railroad 4 1961, exx. Midwest Raleigh Railroad 4 1960, exxx. sold to Mower Lumber Company 4 at Cass in 1943, exxxxx. Strouds Creek & Muddlety Railway 5 at Tioga, West Virginia in 1928, nee Birch Valley Lumber 5, built by Lima in 1928 and Cass Scenic Railway Heisler 6, ex. Meadow River Lumber Company 6, nee Bostonia Clay Products 20, built by Heisler Locomotive Works in 1929, as they climbed the grade.





5/20/2007 -- The steam engine races were held Sunday mornings during the Cass railfan weekends.





6/3/2007 -- Milwaukee Road 4-8-4 261, built by American Locomotive Company in 1944, took me to Duluth again.





8/3/2007 -- I rode Remlinger Farms' Tolt River Railroad 4-4-0 1 "Hank", built by Crown Metal Works in 1964.





8/23/2007 -- The 2007 National Railway Historical Society convention was held in Chattanooga, Tennessee and included Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum 2-8-0 610, nee United States Army Transportation Corps 610 built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in 1952.





8/25/2007 - The NRHS convention's Summerville Steam Trip was pulled by Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum 2-8-0 610, nee United States Army Transportation Corps 610 built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in 1952 seen here during a photo runby at Chickamauga, Georgia.





9/8/2007 -- Canadian Pacific 4-6-4 2816, built by Montreal Locomotive Works in 1930, pulled the Glenwood Turn crossing the Mississippi River at Minneapolis, Minnesota.





9/9/2007 - Canadian Pacific 4-6-4 2816 pulled the Dresser Turn.





9/15/2007 -- Canadian Pacific 4-6-4 2816 and Milwaukee Road 4-8-4 261 double-headed an excursion from Minneapolis Junction, Minnesota to La Crosse, Wisconsin.





9/16/2007 -- Canadian Pacific 4-6-4 2816 took me from Shoreham Yard in Minneapolis to Thief River Falls, seen here at Glenwood, Minnesota.





9/17/2007 -- Canadian Pacific 4-6-4 2816 took me from Thief River Falls to Winnipeg, Manitoba, seen here at Thief River Falls, Minnesota.





11/4/2007 -- McCloud River 2-8-2 18, built by Baldwin in 1914, and Sierra Railroad 2-8-0 28, built by Baldwin in 1922, provided the power for an excursion on the Sierra Railroad. This was the second photo runby.

2008



6/1/1008 -- I rode Santa Fe 4-8-4 3751, built by Baldwin in 1927, on its San Diego Steam Special; this was the photo runby at Carlsbad Poinsettia station on the southbound trip.





6/17/2008 -- Durango & Silverton 2-8-2 486, nee Denver and Rio Grande Western 486, built by Baldwin in 1925, pulled the train I rode to Silverton.





7/18/2008 -- Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad 2-8-2 488, nee Denver and Rio Grande Western 488, built by Baldwin in 1925, pulled my train from Chama to Antonito.





7/19/2008 -- Rio Grande Scenic 2-8-0 18, ex. Mount Hood Railroad 18, exx. Grand Canyon Railway 18, exxx. Lake States Steam Association 18, exxxx. Ishpeming Steel 18 1985, exxxxx. Marquette and Huron Mountain Railroad 18 1963, nee Lake Superior and Ishpeming 18 built by American Locomotive Company in 1910, led the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad excursion.





9/14/2008 -- Milwaukee Road 4-8-4 261, built by American Locomotive Company in 1944, took me on a circle trip on the former Milwaukee Road main line to La Crosse, Wisconsin and back to Minneapolis Junction; pictured at Dakota.





9/21/2008 -- The 2008 American Association of Private Car Owners convention excursion was from Los Angeles to San Diego and then San Pedro, led by Santa Fe 4-8-4 3751, built by Baldwin in 1927. Here, it is reversing across the San Diego River.





10/18/2008 -- I participated in the Rail Ride for Flood Relief with Iowa Interstate QJ 2-10-2 7081, built by Datong in 1985, on an excursion from Rock Island, Illinois to near Walcott, Iowa.





10/19/2008 -- The Rail Ride for Flood Relief concluded with a double-headed excursion from Rock Island, Illinois to Iowa City, Iowa with Iowa Interstate QJ 2-10-2 6988, built by Datong in 1985, and QJ 2-10-2 7081, also built by Datong in 1985.

2009



2/22/2009 -- Ventura County 2-6-2 2, nee Cascade Timber Company 107 built by Baldwin in 1922, provided me a ride at the Orange Empire Railway Museum in Perris.





7/11/2009 -- I rode behind Colorado Railroad Museum 2-8-0 346, ex. Robert Richardson 346 1958, exx. Narrow Gauge Motel 346 1950, exxx. Dolores, Colorado 1948, exxxx. Booker Junkyard in Durango 346 1948, exxxxx. Montezuma Lumber Company 346 1947, exxxxxx. Denver and Rio Grande Western 346 1924, exxxxxxx. Denver and Rio Grande Western 406 1921, exxxxxxxx. Denver and Rio Grande Railroad 406 1886, nee Denver and Rio Grande Railway 406 "Cumbres" built by Baldwin in 1881 at the Colorado Railroad Museum 50th Birthday celebration.





7/12/2009 -- Cripple Creek & Victor Railroad 0-4-0T 2, built by Henschel and Son in 1948.





7/24/2009 -- At Train Festival 2009 in Owosso, Michigan, Little River Railroad 4-6-2 110, built by Baldwin in 1911, was the power for the hourly excursion.





7/24/2009 -- Huckleberry Railroad "Mudhen" 2-8-2 464, nee Denver and Rio Grande Western 464, built by Baldwin in 1903, at Crossroads Village in Flint, Michigan.





7/25/2009 -- Nickel Plate Road 2-8-4 765, built by Lima in 1944, led two days' worth of excursions (one substituting for Pere Marquette 1225) from Owosso to Alma during Train Festival 2009; this was a photo runby at Woodland Park in Ithaca, Michigan.





8/7/2009 -- Laona & Northern Railway 2-6-2 4, ex. Birmingham Rail and Locomotive Company 12 1925, exx. Central Wisconsin Railway 12 Fairchild, Wisconsin, nee Fairchild and Northeastern Railway 12, built by Vulcan Iron Works in 1916, gave me a ride to Camp 5 at Laona, Wisconsin.





8/8/2009 -- I visited Riverside and Great Northern Railway in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin and rode behind Riverside & Great Northern 4-4-0 No. 98 'D.K. Shrock', built by Sandley Light Railway Works in 1952.





8/13/2009 -- During the 2009 National Railway Historical Society convention, I rode "The Arrowhead Vacationer" pulled by Soo Line 4-6-2 2719, built by American Locomotive Company in 1923, from Duluth to Two Harbors, Minnesota.





9/5/2009 -- Westside Lumber Company 3-truck Shay 12, built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1923, at the Old Threshers Reunion at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.





10/3/2009 -- I finally had an opportunity to ride behind Pere Marquette 2-8-4 1225, built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1941, along with Nickel Plate Road 2-8-4 765, built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1944, on a fall colours excursion from Alma to Cadillac, Michigan.





10/4/2009 - During a visit to Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village, Hecla and Torch Lake Railroad 0-6-4T 3 "Torch Lake", nee Calumet and Hecla Mining 518, built by Mason-Bogie in 1873 was the power for the train around the grounds.

2/8/2010 -- I rode behind Canadian Pacific 4-6-2 Royal Hudson 2860, built by Montreal Locomotive Works in 1940, from Vancouver to White Rock, British Columbia.





3/14/2010 -- Quincy Railroad 2-6-2T 2, built by American Locomotive Company in 1924, was ridden on the post-Winterail 2010 Special on the Niles Canyon Railway.





5/2/2010 -- Santa Fe 4-8-4 3751, built by Baldwin in 1927, was ridden on the San Diego Steam Special II; this is the photo runby at the Carlsbad Poinsettia Coaster station on the northbound run.





5/8/2010 - Santa Fe 4-8-4 3751, built by Baldwin in 1927, pulled me from Los Angeles to San Bernardino on National Train Day that year.





5/15/2010 -- I rode behind Reading Blue Mountain and Northern 4-6-2 425, ex. Blue Mountain and Reading 425, exx. Wilmington and Western 425, exxx. Valley Forge Scenic 425, exxxx. Louisiana Eastern 2, exxxxx. Louisiana Eastern 4, exxxxxx. Gulf, Mobile and Ohio 580, nee Gulf, Mobile and Northern 425, built by Baldwin in 1928, on an excursion from Tunkhannock to Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania.





6/19/2010 -- Delaware River Railroad 2-8-2 142 "Walter G. Rich", built by TangShan Locomotive Works in China in 1989, was ridden out of Phillipsburg.





6/21/2010 -- At the Pioneer Coal Mine in Ashland, Pennsylvania, I rode behind Henry Coal 0-4-0ST 1, ex. Ashland Community Enterprises 1962, exx. Guadino & Brothers Hazelton, Pennsylvania, exxx. Lehigh Valley Coal Corporation 123 1928, nee Lehigh Valley Coal Company 1923 built by Vulcan Iron Works in 1927.





6/24/2010 -- The NRHS Pocono Express return excursion was pulled by Canadian National 2-8-2 3254, nee Canadian Government Railways 2854, built by Canadian Locomotive Company in 1917.





6/27/2010 -- New Hope and Ivyland 0-4-0T 17, ex. private individual, exx. Carbon Limestone Company 17, nee New York Shipbuilding Corporation USNX 2025 built by Vulcan Iron Works in 1941, was ridden during the hourly excursion at West Virginia Rails 2010 in Petersburg, West Virginia.





6/27/2010 -- I was given a cab ride on the wye aboard Flagg Coal 0-4-0T 75, ex. Solvay Process Company 75 1935, nee Flagg Coal Company 2, built by Vulcan Iron Works in 1930 at West Virginia Rails 2010.





6/29/2010 -- I was pushed up to Bald Knob by Cass Scenic Railroad Shay 11, ex. moved to Campo in 1983, exx. Pacific Southwest Railway Museum at San Diego, California 1967, exxx. transferred Feather River Railway Company 3 at Feather Falls, California in 1939, exxxx. Feather River Pine Mills 3 1927, nee Hutchinson Lumber Company 3, built by Lima in 1923.

3/27/2011 -- Fillmore & Western 2-8-0 14, nee Duluth and Northeastern 14, built by Baldwin in 1913, took me for a ride at Fillmore Railfest.





4/17/2011 -- I rode behind Santa Fe 4-8-4 3751, built by Baldwin in 1927, from San Bernardino to Los Angeles.





5/31/2011 -- Union Pacific 4-8-4 844, built by American Locomotive Company in 1944, aboard the Little Rock Express from Kansas City to Jefferson City over Union Pacific's River Subdivision.





6/18/2011 -- W.H. Eccles Lumber Company Heisler 3, ex. Boise Cascade Corporation 3 1960, exx. Hallock and Howard Lumber Company 3 1927, nee W.H. Eccles Lumber Company 3 built in 1915, was the steam engine on the Sumpter Valley Railroad.





6/21/2011 - The 2011 National Railway Historical Society convention was held in Tacoma, Washington and included an excursion between Portland and Tacoma led by Southern Pacific 4-8-4 4449, built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1941.





6/22/2011 -- At Remlinger Farms, Tolt River Railroad 4-4-0 2 "Floyd", built by Crown Metal Works in 1966, was handling the duties.





6/25/2011 -- The NRHS convention's Stampede Pass excursion featured Southern Pacific 4-8-4 4449, built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1941.





6/26/2011 -- The NRHS convention's final event was an excursion behind Southern Pacific 4449, built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1941, from Tacoma to Portland.





7/15/2011 -- Solvay Process Works 0-4-0T 57, ex. Rail City, Incorporated 57 1955, exx. Allied Chemical and Dye Corporation 57 1947, nee Solvay Process Works 57, built by Alco-Cooke in 1923, gave me a ride at the Northeast Missouri Old Threshers in Shelbina, Missouri.





7/23/2011 -- Iowa Interstate QJ 2-10-2 6988, built by Datong in 1985, led the Iowa City Steam Special during Train Festival 2011.

4/22/2012 -- I rode behind Santa Fe 4-8-4 3751, built by Baldwin in 1927, back to Los Angeles from San Bernardino Railroad Days.





6/16/2012 -- I rode Silver Creek and Stephenson Railroad Heisler 2, ex. Whitewater Valley Railroad 2, Connersville, Indiana, exx. Maggie Valley Railroad 2 1962-1974 in Maggie Valley, South Carolina, exxx. Santee River Hardwood Company 7 St. Stephens, South Carolina, exxxx. Turner-Farber-Love Company 2 Charleston, Mississippi in 1923, exxxxx. Lamb-Fish Lumber Company 2 Charleston, Mississippi, exxxxxx. Poplarville Saw Mill Company 2 Poplarville, Mississippi, nee Louise Lumber Company 2, built by the company in 1912.





6/18/2012 -- The 2012 National Railway Historical Society convention was held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and during the event at Midwest Old Threshers in Mount Pleasant, I rode behind Midwest Central 2-6-0 6 1960, ex. Argent Lumber 6 1936, nee Surry, Sussex & Southampton Railway Company 6, built by Baldwin in 1891.





6/19/2012 -- The NRHS Cedar Rapids-to-Rock Island westbound steam excursion behind Iowa Interstate QJ 2-10-2 6988, built by Datong in 1985.





6/21/2012 -- One of the NRHS convention events was at the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad with Boone and Scenic Valley 2-8-2 JS8419, built by Datong in 1988.





9/2/2012 -- I rode behind Poway-Midland Railroad 0-4-0 3, nee Cowell Cement Company 2, built by Baldwin in 1907.
