Now that I have shown you photo locations and directions on how to get to them all, I will now show you railroad related things around the La Plata greater area. I will just give you address and directions whenever possible to each of the locations.
Trip One NorthFirst take US Highway 63 north into Kirksville.
BN Station ex CB&Q in Kirksville. Take Missouri Highway 6 west to Novinger a right on South Franklin and a left on Coal Street.
Near the Novinger Coal Mine Museum in Novinger, MO sits this CB&Q Caboose 13979. Return to La Plata and then head west on Missouri Highway 156 west to South Gifford go through town and the station is on the left.
The So. Gifford CB&Q Station. This building was being taken over by nature the last time I visited it. Return to La Plata.
Trip Two Shelbina, MissouriTake US Highway 63 south to Macon then east on US Highway 36 then take Missouri Highway 155 and a right on Fairgrounds Road.
At the Northeast Missouri Old Threshers in Shelbina, Missouri there is a steam engine Solvay Process Works 0-4-0T 57. They run the engine Labor Day weekend and other times during the year. Return to La Plata the way you came.
Trip 3 A Big CircleTake US Highway 63 south to Macon then west on US Highway 36 Road and take south Macon Street to what you came here for.
Bevier & Southern 2-6-0 112 on display in Bevier. The Pear Tree is one of the best restaurants in all of Missouri. Return to US Highway 36 to Missouri Highway 5 into Marceline. The first thing you will come to is this.
The former Disney Home in Marceline. Go down the street to the right to the next Disney thing to see in Marceline. Take the path and follow the signs.

The Disney Barn. Return to Highway 5 and turn right onto Kansas Ave "Main Street USA".

In Ripley Park is the Santa Fe 2-8-0 2546 and painted for the Santa Fe and Disneyland Railroad.

The Santa Fe Station is now the Disney Hometown Museum.
The Uptown Theater had hosted two World Disney Premiers of the Great Locomotive Chase and The Spirit of Mickey.
The Nomo Art Center. Go across the tracks for the next two interesting points in Marceline.

The Walt Disney Elementary School in Marceline. Return across the tracks to Kansas Ave and go west.
The Santa Fe Railway Sand and Coal Chute was built in 1902. Today it is one of the three remaining concrete chutes left in North America.
Walt Disney Municipal Park and Pool.
The Disney Complex is in the park.
County Club Lake was built by the Santa Fe employees and their families in the early 1900's.
The pool is opened from May through August. Return to US 34 and go west to Brookfield then take Missouri Highway 11north and take a left before the underpass and park.
There is a BNSF Caboose in Brookfield.

The BNSF local power in Brookfield. Return to US Highway 34 going west to Chillicothe and start to look around town. You will find plenty of things in Chillicothe.
Here you will find the Missouri North Central Railroad with Motive Rail 5316 out at the Industrial Park served by this railroad.

The old Wabash Freight House now the Wabash Bar.
The old Wabash Passenger Station now the Wabash BBQ. The CP Rail passes through Chillicothe.
This Illinois, Chicago and Eastern freight is really now a CP Rail train passed through Dawn. Take US Highway 65 south then left on Route H then south on Missouri Highway 139 to Hale where the next station building is.
The former CB&Q Station in Hale. Stay on Missouri Highway 139 through Bosworth to US Highway 24 and go east staying on this road along the Norfolk Southern mainline all the way to Moberly. Along the way you can stop and shoot things.

The Clifton Hill Wabash Station. From here go into Moberly and you will find the Norfolk Southern Yard.

The Moberly Historic Railway Museum. It is located at 101 N Sturgeon St Moberly, Missouri 65270.
Also in Moberly is the Rothwell Park Magic City Line Miniature Railroad. For more information on the Magic City Line mini-train, please call 660-263-7139. Take US 63 south to Missouri Highway 22 into Mexico.

You might find the local NS power in Mexico like the Norfolk Southern GP59 4624. Now return west on Missouri Highway 22 then a left on Missouri Highway 124 then stay on this road that turns into Route B to North Brown Station Road.
In Columbia, Missouri you can find the COLT Railroad which is near where the Columbia Star Dinner Train departs from on Brown Station Road.
The Columbia Star Dinner offers an excellent meal on their unique Dinner Train out of Columbia, Missouri. Go into downtown Columbia to find the two surviving stations.
The former Wabash Railroad Station now used as part of the local transit station. Six blocks away on Broadway Street I found the old Katy Station.
The Katy Station is now a restaurant. Return to La Plata on US Highway 63.
Trip 4 The East Trip.To get to our next locations take US Highway 63 from La Plata north to Missouri Highway 6 through Edina and follow this route towards West Quincy. Your first stop will be in Knox City.
A nice park in Knox City. Your next stop will be in La Belle.
The La Belle CB&Q Station was built by the QO&KC Railroad. From here continue east to West Quincy.
The BNSF yard at West Quincy and the Carl Sandburg 381 from Chicago.
The BNSF 5436 North leaving West Quincy on the BNSF Hannibal Sub. Now go north on US Highway 61. At Canton take Business 61 and at the bottom of the hill take a right on Lewis Street to the station.

BNSF 9135 South north of Canton on the BNSF Hannibal Sub along US Highway 61 to US Highway 136 into Keokuk, Iowa and take a right on S 2nd Street then left on Johnson Street down the hill to our next locations after crossing the tracks.
The Keokuk Station was used by the CB&Q, Wabash and Rock Island.
The original passenger depot in Keokuk was built by the Toledo, Peoria & Western Railroad and is owned today by the Keokuk Junction Railway.
