2005



7/6/2005 -- The 2005 National Railway Historical Society convention, held in Portland, Oregon, featured Spokane, Portland & Seattle 4-8-4 700, built by Baldwiin in 1938, and Southern Pacific 4-8-4 4449, built by Lima in 1941, pulling the Western Star Steam Special from Portland to Wishram, Washington.





7/9/2005 -- The NRHS Convention's Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad Special used Westport Timber Company Heisler 91 and Hillcrest Lumber Climax 10; this runby was held at Divide, Washington.





7/10/2005 -- Cowlitz, Chehalis & Cascade 2-8-2 15, built by Baldwin in 1916, at Millburn, Washington as it ran around the train for the return journey to Chehalis.





11/22/2005 -- Georgia Agrirama Living History Museum's Hardaway Contracting Company 0-4-0T 5, built by Vulcan Iron Works in 1923 at Tifton, Georgia.

2006



6/6/2006 - I was aboard the Chehalis-Centralia steam charter with Cowlitz, Chehalis & Cascade 2-8-2 15 sponsored by the Southern Appalachia Railway Museum.





6/7/2006 -- I rode the Timbers to Tidelands Steam Special from Morton to Tacoma sponsored by the Southern Appalachia Railway Museum.





7/10/2006 -- Spokane, Portland and Seattle 4-8-4 700, built by Baldwin in 1938, gave me a short ride from Oaks Park.





7/14/2006 -- Western Maryland Scenic Railroad 2-8-0 734, built by Baldwin in 1916, about to enter Brush Tunnel.





7/16/2006 -- I rode behind East Broad Top Railroad 15, built by Baldwin in Baldwin in 1914.





7/20/2006 -- The 2006 National Railway Historical Society convention's Convention Cincinnati Limited ran from Dennison to Newark behind Ohio Central 4-6-2 1293, nee Canadian Pacific, built by Canadian Locomotive Company in 1948. Here is the photo runby at Trinway, Ohio.





7/22/2006 -- The NRHS convention's "The Buckeye" was pulled by Ohio Central 4-6-2 1293 from Morgan Run to Sugar Creek. The photo runby at a farm crossing northeast of Morgan Run, Ohio.





9/16/2006 -- I rode Southern Pacific 4-8-4 4449 Excursion to Bend, Oregon; this is the photo runby at Overbrook.





12/31/2006 -- Texas State Railroad 2-8-0 300, built by Baldwin in 1917.

2007



4/9/2007 - Strasburg Rail Road's former Great Western 2-10-0 90, built by Baldwin in 1924, charging along Cherry Hill Road in Amish country in Strasburg, Pennsylvania.





5/19/2007 - I attended the Cass Scenic 40th Anniversary railfan weekend and rode behind Cass Shay 2, built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1928, Shay 4, also built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1928, and Heisler 6, built by Heisler Locomotive Works in 1929, as they climbed the grade.





5/20/1997 -- The steam engine races were held Sunday mornings during the Cass railfan weekends.





6/3/2007 -- Milwaukee Road 4-8-4 261, built by American Locomotive Company in 1944, took me to Duluth again.





8/3/2007 -- I rode Remlinger Farms' Tolt River Railroad and their highly-modified 4-4-0 1 "Hank", built by Crown Metal Works in 1964.





8/23/2007 -- The 2007 National Railway Historical Society convention was held in Chattanooga, Tennessee and included Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum 2-8-0 610, built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in 1952.





8/25/2007 - The NRHS convention's Summerville Steam Trip was pulled by Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum 2-8-0 610 seen here during a photo runby at Chickamauga, Georgia.





9/8/2007 -- Canadian Pacific 4-6-4 2816, built by Montreal Locomotive Works in 1930, pulled the Glenwood Turn crossing the Mississippi River at Minneapolis, Minnesota.





9/9/2007 - Canadian Pacific 4-6-4 2816 pulled the Dresser Turn.





9/15/2007 -- Canadian Pacific 4-6-4 2816 and Milwaukee Road 4-8-4 261 double-headed an excursion from Minneapolis Junction, Minnesota to La Crosse, Wisconsin.





9/16/2007 -- Canadian Pacific 4-6-4 2816 took me from Shoreham Yard in Minneapolis to Thief River Falls, seen here at Glenwood, Minnesota.





9/17/2007 -- Canadian Pacific 4-6-4 2816 took me from Thief River Falls to Winnipeg, Manitoba, seen here at Thief River Falls, Minnesota.





11/4/2007 -- McCloud River 2-8-2 18, built by Baldwin in 1914, and Sierra Railroad 2-8-0 28, built by Baldwin in 1922, provided the power for an excursion on the Sierra Railroad. This was the second photo runby.

2008



6/1/1008 -- I rode Santa Fe 4-8-4 3751, built by Baldwin in 1927, on its San Diego Steam Special; this was the photo runby at Carlsbad Poinsettia station on the southbound trip.





6/17/2008 - Durango & Silverton K-36 2-8-2 486, built by Baldwin in 1925, pulled the train I rode to Silverton.





7/18/2008 -- Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad K-36 2-8-2 488, built by Baldwin in 1925, pulled my train from Chama to Antonito.





7/19/2008 -- Rio Grande Scenic 2-8-0 18, built by American Locomotive Company in 1910, led the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad excursion.





9/14/2008 -- Milwaukee Road 4-8-4 261, built by American Locomotive Company in 1944, took me on a circle trip on the former Milwaukee Road main line to La Crosse, Wisconsin and back to Minneapolis Junction; pictured at Dakota.





9/21/2008 - The 2008 American Association of Private Car Owners convention excursion was from Los Angeles to San Diego and then San Pedro, seen here reversing across the San Diego River.





10/18/2008 -- I participated in the Rail Ride for Flood Relief with Iowa Interstate QJ 2-10-2 7081, built by Datong in 1985, on an excursion from Rock Island, Illinois to near Walcott, Iowa.





10/19/2008 -- The Rail Ride for Flood Relief concluded with a double-headed excursion from Rock Island, Illinois to Iowa City, Iowa with Iowa Interstate QJ 2-10-2 6988, built by Datong in 1985, and QJ 2-10-2 7081.

2009





2/22/2009 -- Ventura County 2-6-2 2, built by Baldwin in 1922, provided me a ride at the Orange Empire Railway Museum in Perris.





7/11/2009 - I rode behind Denver and Rio Grande Western 2-8-0 346, built by Baldwin in 1881, at the Colorado Railroad Museum 50th Birthday celebration.





7/12/2009 -- Cripple Creek & Victor Railroad 0-4-0T 2, built by Henschel and Son in 1948.





7/24/2009 -- At Train Festival 2009 in Owosso, Michigan, Little River Railroad 4-6-2 110, built by Baldwin in 1911, was the power for the hourly excursion.





7/24/2009 -- Huckleberry Railroad "Mudhen" 2-8-2 464, built by Baldwin in 1903, at Crossroads Village in Flint, Michigan





7/25/2009 -- Nickel Plate Road 2-8-4 765 led two days' worth of excursions (one substituting for Pere Marquette 1225) from Owosso to Alma during Train Festival 2009; this was a photo runby at Woodland Park in Ithaca, Michigan.





8/7/2009 -- Laona & Northern Railway 2-6-2 4, built by Vulcan Iron Works in 1916, gave me a ride to Camp 5 at Laona, Wisconsin.





8/8/2009 -- I visited Riverside and Great Northern Railway in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin and rode behind Riverside & Great Northern 4-4-0 No. 98 'D.K. Shrock' built by Sandley Light Railway Works in 1952.





8/13/2009 -- During the 2009 National Railway Historical Society convention, I rode "The Arrowhead Vacationer" pulled by Soo Line 4-6-2 2719, built by American Locomotive Company in 1923, from Duluth to Two Harbors, Minnesota.





9/5/2009 -- Westside Lumber Company 3-truck Shay 12, built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1923, at the Old Threshers Reunion at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.





10/3/2009 - I finally had an opportunity to ride behind Pere Marquette 2-8-4 1225, built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1941, along with Nickel Plate Road 2-8-4 765, built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1944, on a fall colours excursion from Alma to Cadillac, Michigan.





10/4/2009 - During a visit to Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village, Calumet-Hecla Mining Company 0-6-4T 3 "Torch Lake" built by Mason-Bogie in 1873 was the power for the train around the grounds.

2010



2/8/2010 -- I rode behind Canadian Pacific 4-6-2 Royal Hudson 2860, built by Montreal Locomotive Works in 1940, from Vancouver to White Rock, British Columbia.





3/14/2010 -- Quincy Railroad 2-6-2T 2, built by American Locomotive Company in 1924, was ridden on the post-Winterail 2010 Special on the Niles Canyon Railway.





5/2/2010 -- Santa Fe 4-8-4 3751, built by Baldwin in 1927, was ridden on the San Diego Steam Special II; this is the photo runby at the Carlsbad Poinsettia Coaster station on the northbound run.





5/8/2010 - Santa Fe 4-8-4 3751, built by Baldwin in 1927, pulled me from Los Angeles to San Bernardino on National Train Day that year.





5/15/2010 -- I rode behind Reading Blue Mountain and Northern 4-6-2 425, built by Baldwin in 1928, on an excursion from Tunkhannock to Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania.





6/19/2010 -- Delaware River Railroad 2-8-2 142, built by TangShan Locomotive Works in China in 1989, was ridden out of Phillipsburg.





6/20/2010 -- At the Pioneer Coal Mine in Ashland, Pennsylvania, I rode behind Henry Coal 0-4-0ST 1, built by Vulcan Iron Works in 1927.





6/24/2010 -- The NRHS Pocono Express return excursion was pulled by Canadian National 3254, built by Canadian Locomotive Company in 1917.





6/27/2010 -- New Hope and Ivyland 0-4-0T 17, buitl by Vulcan Iron Works in 1941, was ridden during the hourly excursion West Virginia Rails 2010 in Petersburg, West Virginia.





6/27/2010 -- I was given a cab ride on the wye aboard Flagg Coal 0-4-0T 75, built by Vulcan Iron Works in 1930 at West Virginia Rails 2010.





6/29/2010 -- I was pushed up to Bald Knob by Cass Scenic Railroad Shay 11, built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1923.

2011



3/27/2011 -- Fillmore & Western 2-8-0 14, built by Baldwin in 1913, took me for a ride at Fillmore Railfest.





4/17/2011 -- I rode behind Santa Fe 4-8-4 3751, built by Baldwin in 1927, from San Bernardino to Los Angeles.





5/31/2011 -- Union Pacific 4-8-4 844, built by American Locomotive Company in 1944, aboard the Little Rock Express from Kansas City to Jefferson City over Union Pacific's River Subdivision.





6/18/2011 -- W.H. Eccles Lumber Company Heisler 3, built by Heisler Locomotive Works in 1914, was the steam engine on the Sumpter Valley Railroad.





6/21/2011 - The 2011 National Railway Historical Society convention was held in Tacoma, Washington and included an excursion between Portland and Tacoma led by Southern Pacific 4-8-4 4449, built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1941.





6/22/2011 -- At Remlinger Farms' Tolt River Railroad, their 4-4-0 2 "Floyd" was handling the duties.





6/25/2011 -- The NRHS convention's Stampede Pass excursion featured Southern Pacific 4-8-4 4449, built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1941.





6/26/2011 -- The NRHS convention's final event was an excursion behind Southern Pacific 4449 from Tacoma to Portland.





7/15/2011 -- Solvay Process Works 0-4-0T 57, built by Alco-Cooke in 1923, gave me a ride at the Northeast Missouri Old Threshers in Shelbina, Missouri.





7/23/2011 -- Iowa Interstate QJ 2-10-2 6988, built by Datong in 1985 led the Iowa City Steam Special during Train Festival 2011.

2012



4/22/2012 -- I rode behind Santa Fe 4-8-4 3751, built by Baldwin in 1927, back to Los Angeles from San Bernardino Railroad Days.





6/16/2012 -- I rode the Silver Creek and Stephenson Railroad behind Heisler 2, built by Heisler Locomotive Works in 1912.





6/18/2012 -- The 2012 National Railway Historical Society convention was held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and during the event at Midwest Old Threshers in Mount Pleasant, I rode behind Surry, Sussex & South Hampton Railway 2-6-0 6, built by Baldwin in 1891.





6/19/2012 -- The NRHS Cedar Rapids-to-Rock Island westbound steam excursion behind Iowa Interstate QJ 2-10-2 6988, built by Datong in 1985.





6/21/2012 -- One of the NRHS convention events was at the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad with Boone and Scenic Valley 2-8-2 JS8419, built by Datong in 1988.





9/2/2012 -- I rode behind Poway-Midland Railroad 0-4-0 3, built by Baldwin in 1907.

2013



3/9/2013 -- Clover Valley Lumber 2-6-6-2T 4, built by Baldwin in 1924, was the star of the post-Winterail special on the Niles Canyon Railway.





3/9/2013 -- I rode behind Glenwood, South Park and Pacific 2-8-0 13, built by Westside Locomotive Works at Hillcrest Farms' Hillcrest & Wahtoke Railroad in Reedley, California.





7/21/2013 -- During a visit to Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association, I rode behind Pennsylvania Railroad 0-6-0 643, built by the railroad in 1901, for the second time.





9/14/2013 -- At the 2013 National Railway Historical Society convention in Anchorage, Alaska, Tanana Valley Railroad 0-4-0 1, built by H.K. Porter in 1899, was the subject of several rides at Pioneer Park in Fairbanks.

2014



4/13/2014 -- I rode Santa Fe 4-8-4 3751, built by Baldwin in 1927 from San Bernardino to Los Angeles.





6/11/2014 -- The 2014 National Railway Historical Society convention was in Springdale, Arkansas and featured a visit to Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, providing me an opportunity to ride behind Orenstein & Koppel Germany 2-4-0T 13, built by Orenstein and Koppel in 1938.





8/14/2014 -- A visit to Roaring Camp and Big Trees Narrow Gauge Railroad featured a ride behind 2-truck Shay 1 "Dixiana", built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1912.





8/16/2014 -- California Western 2-8-2 45, built by Baldwin in 1924, at Fort Bragg.

2015



6/22/2015 -- Mount Washington Cog Railroad 2 "Ammonoosuc", built by Manchester Locomotive Works in 1875 pushed our train up the summit and pulled it back down.





6/27/2015 -- I rode the Essex Steam Train behind New Haven 2-8-2 3025, built by Tangshan in 1989.





7/25/2015 -- Norfolk Southern's Steam Program featured Nickel Plate Road 2-8-4 765, built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1944, from Youngstown to Ashtabula, Ohio.





7/26/2015 -- The 24 inch gauge Stet & Querry Central 4-6-4 1 built by Wagner and Sons in 1938, at the Hesston Steam Museum in Hesston, Indiana.

2016



3/20/2016 -- McCloud River Railroad 2-6-2 25, built by American Locomotive Company in 1925, led the post-Winterail excursion on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad.





4/8/2016 -- Norfolk and Western 4-8-4 611, built by the railroad in 1941 at Spencer, North Carolina.





4/9/2016 -- Riding behind Norfolk and Western 4-8-4 611, built by the railroad in 1941, on The Virginian from Spencer to Lynchburg.





4/10/2016 - The Blue Ridge Special from Spencer to Asheville behind Norfolk and Western 4-8-4 611, built by the railroad in 1941.





7/4/2016 -- Durango & Silverton K36 2-8-2 481, built by Baldwin in 1925, was the locomotive on the Durango & Silverton Railroad train.





7/11/2016 -- Tiny Town Railroad 2-6-6 15" gauge 12 "Mary Ross" built by Uhrich Locomotive Works in 2016 pulled our train at Tiny Town Railroad in Morrison, Colorado.





7/14/2016 -- I rode behind Black Hills Central Railroad 2-6-6-2T 110, built by Baldwin in 1928.





7/17/2016 -- Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad K27 2-8-2 463 "Mudhen", built by Baldwin in 1925, led the train from Antonito to Osier, while 2-8-2 484, built by Baldwin in 1925, took us from Osier to Chama.





7/18/2016 -- Cripple Creek & Victor Narrow Gauge Railway 0-4-0 3, built by H.K. Porter in 1927.





7/21/2016 -- The 2016 National Railway Historical Society convention was held in Denver, Colorado and one of the excursions was at Georgetown Loop Railroad with Westside Lumber Shay 9, built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1923.





7/21/2016 -- The convention event at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden featured Denver and Rio Grande Western 2-8-0 346, built by Baldwin in 1881.





11/12/2016 -- Folsom Valley Railway's 12 inch gauge 4-4-0 1 "Cricket", built by Erich Thompsen in 1950.

2017



The Lake Region Pioneer Treshersmen Association ran their French two foot engine built by Decauville 0-4-0T 2 on 6/2/2017.





Milwaukee Road 261 took me from Davenport to Lisbon and return then to Beckenridge on 6/2/2017 and from Beckenridge to Kindred on 6/3/2017
