Bill Compton and I wanted to go to West Colton, as did Robin Bowers and Chris Parker, so we all met at my house at 5:55 AM and being a Tuesday, I had to let Chris and Robin park in my driveway since it was street sweeping day in Santa Ana. Bill arrived a little after 6:00 AM and soon we were driving up California 57 to California 60, then Interstate 15 to Interstate 10, exiting at Pepper Street where we turned the car around and parked. We walked out to the bridge to wait for Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 to leave West Colton Yard.

Union Pacific 4014 East at Pepper Street in West Colton. We left for our next spot, taking Interstate 10 and stopping at the rest area at Calimesa before we reached the location.
Union Pacific 4014 East at Desert Lawn Drive. It then took us almost 15 minutes to get back onto Interstate 10 due to traffic and as a result, were behind the train but despite the traffic, did get ahead of him and reached our next photo location.
Union Pacific 4014 East at Haugen Lehman Way. It took just a few minutes to get back to Interstate 10 and we took it to our last location of the day.
Union Pacific 4014 East at North Indian Canyon Road bridge. We took this road south to East Racquet Club Road to California 111 to Interstate 10, then California 60 to Interstate 215 to California 91, to California 55 to California 22, arriving at my house after 12:30 PM, ending my coverage of Union Pacific Big Boy 4014. It had been another excellent chase of this steam engine.
