We were heading into the Upper Narrows of the Mojave River.
We went through the Upper Narrows of the Mojave River before reaching Victorville where the steam engine was serviced and greased. I walked back to see the "Cheyenne" and take a picture from the rear of the train.
Looking back into the Upper Narrows. I then returned to the "City of Los Angeles" for the rest of the trip to Barstow. After the servicing stop was over we took off for our destination.
The train being here in Victorville was a big event for this city.

We met several freight trains on our way to Barstow.
We picked up a pilot engineer and started to take the wye at Barstow to turn the train.

Freight trains continued to roll into Barstow.
We started to finsh wying the train and now UP 4014 East would be reversing first into Barstow. We reversed all the way to the Amtrak station.
We reversed to the east end of Barstow Yard before reaching the track into the station.
You know that I knew a few people up on the bridge at Barstow before we stopped at the station. Since I had three cars of people behind us in the "City of Los Angeles" who had to walk through this car to get off the train, I thanked each of them for riding with us today. I bagged the trash in the "City of Los Angeles" and took it to the vestibule of the "City of Portland" then helped take off the Souvenir Car stock which would be sold here. Once that was done, the train pulled west back to the mainline and received a favourable signal and we started the reverse move to Yermo and I headed to the "Cheyenne" for more picture taking.

At West Daggett a military train was waiting to be interchanged between the railroads.

Photographers were everywhere in Daggett.
We reached the Union Pacific home rails.
"Good for 200 cars" was heard on the radio in the "Cheyenne".
The train crossed the Mojave River Bridge just before we reached Yermo.
It had been a beautiful day for this excursion.
We took the last curve into the Union Pacific Yard in Yermo.
They had to throw switches to get us into our track here.
We started braking and took our switches to the layover track. Once there I unloaded the trash and helped with unloading the food that was left onboard. While we waited to do more, I was told to tell everyone to get back to the bus. On the way Chris Parker called, saying that I should get a picture of the locomotives here in Yermo.
Big Boy 4-8-8-4 4014 at rest in Yermo. I boarded the bus and we stopped at the Best Western Motel in East Barstow and then a motel in Lenwood to drop off some passengers which left just four of us on the bus back to the Rancho Cucumonga Metrolink station.
The full moon appeared, ending a great day of this excursion. We arrived at the Metrolink station and I drove back to motel, watched the remainder of the Pittsbugh Penguins hockey game on my computer, went to Carl's Junior to bring back dinner, then called it an early night.
