Southern Railway No. 154 Photography Charter Photo Freight 6/17/2017 Part 3

by Chris Guenzler

We waited for the next photo runby to take place.

Photo runby number ten. We headed back and the passenger train picked us up and took us to the next photo runby location.

The steam engine was watered as we headed back west.

Our passenger train has dropped us off and moves to get out of the way.

The steam train made back up move number eleven with the freight consist.

Photo runby number fourteen. Our train picked us up and took us to our next runby location where we were told to get very chummy with our new friends as this would be tight shots on both sides of the tracks.

Photo runby number fifteen. I switched to the other side of the tracks for a different view of this train.

Photo runby number eighteen with the freight train. This was the final runby out on the line today. We returned to the boarding spot where it was announced they would do some more runbys at the water tower. I decided that I had had enough and thanked my hosts. A special thank you to Joshua Scott for putting together this excellent photo freight opportunity and ride with Southern Railway 154. From here I drove west to Harriman where I stopped at a Hardee's for a hamburger for lunch. I then drove US 27 north to Glen Mary and stopped at the grade crossing and had about a five minute wait before I heard a train coming.

Norfolk Southern 2710 South at Glen Mary. From here, I drove to Oneida and stopped at Hardee's for a second hamburger for dinner then drove to the Parkland Motel in Stearns, Kentucky where I watched the Weather Channel and learned that where I was planning on going to up in Kentucky was going to be under a severe thunderstorm watch with high winds, hail and other weather occurrences. I decided not to go and just railfan the Rathole in the morning and try to get on the Big South Fork Scenic Railroad's train at 12:30 tomorrow afternoon. I called it an early night and had a good night's rest.
