Train Travel Meetup Group Christmas Party 12/22/2014

by Chris Guenzler

Our Train Travel Meetup Group has a Christmas Party every year at the Old Spaghetti Factory in Fullerton. I called Winston Walker with an idea of a train ride to San Diego before the event and he thought it was a good idea. I then called Robin Bowers and asked him to join us if he could and he said "Yes!" So that morning Winston and and his daughter Christy picked me up at 9:20 AM and we drove to Fullerton, parked the car then walked to the pedestrian bridge in time to see our first train of the morning.

Pacific Surfliner 565 running 26 minutes late.

Pacific Surfliner 565 leaves Fullerton for Los Angeles.

BNSF 6674 West came through next.

We moved to Platform 3 to wait for our Pacific Surfliner 768 south.

Next BNSF 7835 West passed through.

That was followed by BNSF 113 West, along with BNSF 153, and a BN caboose on a local.

Robin Bowers soon joined our group.

Pacific Surfliner 768 arrived and we boarded the cab car, had our tickets scanned and chatted as we headed south to San Diego.

Later we passed my favorite USA Flag.

Next the San Clemente Pier came into view.

Going away from pier. We ran the rest of the way down to San Diego and talked the way there. Once there we went into the Santa Fe station and waited for a ride back to the train for Winston. Back at the train, we walked to the cab car and waited for departure, leaving San Diego on Pacific Surfliner 579 and our tickets were scanned.

Mission Bay as we left San Diego. We talked all the way back to Fullerton.

We detrained at Fullerton and Pacific Surfliner 579 headed to Los Angeles.

Metrolink 602 for Oceanside arrived first.

BNSF 7731 East passed through the station.

Metrolink 686 for Irvine was next.
