2013 NRHS Convention Night Photo Session

by Chris Guenzler

The last event of my first day in Alaska was the night photo session. From the Fountainhead Museum we were bussed back to Pioneer Park where Bart Jennings was waiting to lead us to the steam shovel, our first of three locations in the park. Steve Barry put us into three groups and we had to wait for it to get dark.

Waiting for darkness to fall.

Tanana Valley 1 blows down while we were waiting.

The first flash of the evening.

Still waiting for darkness to take hold.

The second flash of the evening.

The third flash. From here we switched locations but my camera was not working correctly. After that we all walked over to the grade crossing where I had been taking pictures earlier today.

My shot at the second night photo location, after which we walked over to the third and last location.

While we waited, two shots of the Tanana Valley Railroad shop.

I took my picture of Tanana Valley 1 and the Tanana Valley Railroad boxcar.

A couple more night time shots of the Tanana Valley Railroad. After that I led the way back to the bus which returned us to the hotel, thus ending a fantastic first day in central Alaska.
