Bill Compton and I decided to go out and take some train pictures on January 12, 2013. He picked me up at my home in Santa Ana and we took California Highway 22 to California Highway 55 to California Highway 91 to Interstate 215, exiting ato Highgrove where we stopped for our first set of pictures.

The hardware on this unique grade crossing device. We recloated to the southwest side of Colton Crossing for some views of the grade separations there.
This project will let the Union Pacific train fly up and over the BNSF mainline, eliminating the crossing and delays. The two of us then made our way to Pepper Street for a look at West Colton then went up into Cajon Pass and arrived at Hill 582 just before a BNSF eastbound arrived.

BNSF 7262 West. From here we left Hill 582 and once on Interstate 15, we caught up to our two westbounds but I wanted a picture of one of the trailers on BNSF 7262 West so we exited at Devore and got down to just east of Verdemont where we set up for both trains.
