The Northbound Chase of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Blue Unit Circus Train 8/27/2012 Part 2

by Chris Guenzler

We pulled into Califia Beach and Bill dropped me off while he parked and I walked to the usual photo location and he joined me a few minutes later.

Pacific Surfliner 774 on its way to San Diego. A few minutes later the signal turned off from red and came back on green, followed by the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Blue Unit Circus Train on the approach.

From here we took Interstate 5 to Toll Road 261 to the California 241 Toll Road, paying $5.25 to get us to the Riverside Freeway, then to the bridal trail overlooking the Horseshoe Bend of the Santa Ana River. A few minutes later, here came the Blue Unit Circus Train beneath us.

Bill then drove me to Fullerton for the Train Travel Meetup Group gathering and Winston Walker drove me home, ending a great day of train photography. A special thank you to Bill Compton for his excellent driving and Carl Morrison for all his help today.
