The train ran to Halls Flat and I went back to the vestibule for the trip down to Pitt River.

Both ends of our train as we started down the long grade to the river.

Looking down into the Pitt River Gorge.

Both ends of our train.

If it had been clear, Mt. Lassen would be visible in this view.

The train has reached Little Valley.

Views of our train as we dropped towards Spring Gulch.

The train crossed Spring Gulch.

Continuing to drop down the grade.

An unnamed lake along our route.

Down the grade we go.

An interesting little valley.

Still on the grade nearing Pitt River.

We reached Pitt River Gorge.

Pitt River Gorge.

The flowers were in bloom along the upper reaches of the gorge.

Another view of the gorge.

Views of the Fall River Valley.

Our train continued to descend the grade.

The clouds were trying to rain.

We came through that cut a few minutes ago.

The view across the valley.

Two views of our train descending.

Looking west into Pitt River Gorge.

Pitt River.

Both ends of our train before we crossed Pitt River.

Traversing this river.

Later we ran through Lookout where the McCloud River Railroad used to connect with the Great Northern, and later, Burlington Northern.

A meadow north of Lookout.

Views of Egg Lake.

A lone lodgepole pine tree.

Whitehorse Mountains.

We finally saw the sun.

Two more views of the Whitehorse Mountains.

Our train had reached the farmlands.

Tule Lake Swamp.

The crossing of the Modoc Line at Stronghold before we crossed into Oregon.

The view of Oregon on the west side of the train.

The view of Oregon on the east side. We ran across the farmland into the BNSF yard in South Klamath Falls and stopped briefly to drop off our BNSF pilot engineer.

We reached the former Southern Pacific mainline at Bieber Line Jct for the rest of the trip into Klamath Falls.

Klamath Falls could now be seen and we arrived at the Klamath Falls Amtrak station at 8:11 PM, ending Day 2 of this unique trip.

The train in Klamath Falls. Chris and I walked to the Maverick Motel and checked in. Once I finished this part of the story, we went to Creamery Bar & Grill for dinner then returned and called it a night.
