Needles Subdivision Trip Part 4

by Chris Guenzler

After that last eastbound BNSF freight, we drove over to the Union Pacific connection where we found a Union Pacific train with two more headlights behind.

Union Pacific 6924 West leaving Daggett.

Next, Union Pacific 5317 West stopped before reaching the BNSF mainline.

Union Pacific 5668 West on a stack train came through next.

Union Pacific 5317 West then departed.

BNSF 5363 West. From here we had an extremely windy, turning into rainy, drive on Interstate 15 which, when traffic came to a stop, we exited at Bear Valley Cutoff and would come back through the Summit Valley.

Union Pacific 5467 East in the rain and wind at Hesperia.

This unit could use "Uncle Vic Foamer Remover". At Summit we caught up to that same train and went to Cajon to wait for him to arrive.

BNSF 7516 West at Cajon. We then drove on Interstate 15 to the carpool lane on California Highway 60 (Pomona Freeway) to California Highway 57 (Orange Freeway) to Interstate 5 which we exited the carpool lane at Main Street. Here we found the power out due to downed wires south of my house. Bill dropped me off after I thanked him for the excellent trip on the BNSF Needles Subdivision.
