Eureka Springs & North Arkansas Railway 4/8/2009 Part 2

by Chris Guenzler

The passengers boarded coach 2585 and took their seats, after which the engine cut off the front of the train, took the siding past us and made its way to the turntable.

Eureka Springs and North Arkansas SW1 4752 took a spin on the turntable.

Now the engine would return to the train.

The switcher returned to our train and the trip was about to begin. We left Eureka Springs and I was on my first trip on this railroad.

We had returned to the yard where I thanked the crew for an excellent trip before returning to my car. I departed the town via Arkansas Highway 23 to near Huntsville, where I joined US Highway 412 to Springdale, then on Interstate 540 to Fayetteville. I stayed at Best Western Windsor Suites and had a KFC buffet for dinner then was working on the Branson Scenic story when the wild weather started. Pea-sized hail, pouring rain and 65 mile-per-hour winds was something to see through the window, as well as loud thunder and lightning. I was lucky as Mina, Arkansas was destroyed by a tornado. I then called it a night and had a good sleep.

4/9/2009

It was lightly raining as I had a continental breakfast and drove to Springdale, Arkansas for my first ride on the Arkansas and Missouri Railroad.
