MARION

Marion is located about 45 minutes north of Columbous, Ohio. Amtrak used to stop daily at the station in Marion, but since Amtrak closed that route, it has been converted into a Model Railroad Musem and in an adjacent building from the station a local model railraod club has there layout.
Marion is a great place to railfan because of the fact that here, in Marion, the NS New Castle District Double-Tracks cross over ex-Conrail double tracks, and about thrity feet from the ex-Conrail and Norfolk Southern diamonds, there's a CSX double track mainline that crosses over the ex-Conrail double track mainline. (The ex-Conrail double tracks now belong to CSX, and since the June 1st merger, traffic has dropped considerably on the ex-Conrail lines.)
I don't get to make it up to Marion that much nowadays, but I have a couple of pics from when I was there a few months ago.

It was definitely interesting to see this old timer leading two "Catfish" on a southbound general freight.

I've got a head on shot of this southbond NS train, and as soon as I get it scanned in, I'll post it here above this one.
