Below are photos of my Accurail Covered Hoppers. Their large three bay American Car Foundry (ACF) kit is very inexpensive, is offered in an undecorated version, and can easily be an accurate model for thousands of Chessie covered hoppers. These large three bay ACF cars are distinguished by their smooth sides. Competitor freight car builder, Pullman-Standard (PS) preferred covered hoppers with ribbed sides. The HC-47 class was delivered in Chessie paint and was seen all the time on the East End, intermixed with PS cars. The HC-24 and 24A were delivered in predecessor paint, but some were repainted to Chessie paint.
