Passenger Shed, Hancock, WV
This is a neat little building. It was located across the
tracks
from the passenger station. It is for folks to wait on
trains heading East. It is no longer there today. It
is a classicly painted B&O
structure, in the tan-cream color with dark brown trim.
I estimated the size based off the speeder in the photo
below. It has only 14 total pieces, which made for a quick
and easy scratch
building project. There are no windows or doors on it,
so it went together pretty quickly. I used wood for the
building
and sheet styrene for the roof.
Below are a shot of the finished shed, with the retaining wall and
brick waiting platform. The bench is barely visible
inside. I also added the speeder, like the real photo below.
Below is a shot of the real passenger shed at Hancock in 1975
by Bob Zimmerman. Note the unusual presence of a C&O,
not B&O, speeder. It is odd to see one so deep into
B&O country.
