B&O Storage Shed, Martinsburg, WV
This B&O storage shed is no longer standing in Martinsburg,
but the foundation remains. Located right near the Fruit
Exchange, it was removed in the 1990s, though it was in use in the
Chessie era, it was not well cared for. I scratch built the
structure from Northeastern Scale Lumber, Grandt Line doors and a
styrene roof. The model was painted with an air brush with a
custom mixed depot tan color. I weathered the wood
with a rounded blade to scrape away the paint and an India ink
wash. Weathering is heavier than normal, due to the sad
state of the real structure. The roof is tissue paper
attached with black paint, to simulate tar paper.
Below is a shot of the real storage shed in 1989. Note
the multiple door types, one off its hinges, two left open and a
ragged tar paper roof.
