TRAINMEN
1250. Trainmen report to and receive instructions
from the Trainmaster. While on trains, they are under the jurisdiction
of the Conductor. While at stations, they will comply with the instructions
of Stationmaster, Station Agent or Yardmaster.
While on engines, they will comply with instructions
of the Engineer, and must keep a lookout in the direction the train is
moving.
1251. They are responsible for having adequate
flagman's equipment (including back-up hose where required) available,
in good order and ready for immediate use, and must see that markers are
properly displayed. They must dispose of flagging equipment and markers
at final terminals in accordance with current instructions.
1252. When riding freight diesels, the forward
trainmen will ride in the front cab, unless instructed by the Engineer
or Conductor to ride elsewhere.
1253. When it is necessary to cut train to
permit highway traffic to cross, the crossing will be protected by a member
of the crew when the train is being recoupled.
