his fireman John Wesley McKinnie on the 638. This photo was provided
to us by theWater Valley Casey Jones Railroad Museum. According to
Bruce Gurner, it was taken just north of the yard limit board in Water
Valley in 1898.
This was Casey's
assigned engine while in Water Valley. His next engine may have been the 384 instead of the 382 that he wrecked at Vaughan.
The 382 may well have belonged to the sick engineer he replaced that night for the
