If you don't like the weather in Missouri, just wait 15 minutes and it will change.  The following photos were on another day.  In any weather, the Depot Inn & Suites will pick you up from, or deliver you to, any Amtrak Train.  Each morning one passes eastward, and each evening one passes westward.

The morning eastbound Amtrak No. 4 makes two spots at the La Plata Station.  One for Sleeing Cars, and one for Coach Cars.  Both use the new ADA loading spot that is level with the floor of the train.

"La Plata Bob" Cox, part-time station agent,  is always at the Station to help both arriving and departing passengers.

The station, and the nearby Depot Inn & Suites Lookout are the closest that railfans can legally get to take photos of passing freight trains and Amtrak trains.

An excellent photo timeline of the Depot created by Bob Cox from found photos.

View from the Ticket Agent's Desk of the Lobby.

Calendar in the Station.

Bob showed me the newest development at the Station...a very large model train layout is being built.

Local Amish often take the train, arriving and departing the station by horse and buggy, passing the red-roofed TrainParty.com building.

The Westbound Southwest Chief No. 3 arrives a few minutes before 8 pm each evening.

New Lighting and ADA Platform make the La Plata Station a safe destination or debarkation spot even after dark.
